Isle of Pride 2020 Cancelled!
It is with huge disappointment that the organising committee announce the cancellation of the inaugural Isle of Pride Parade 2020 and Party with Pride.
Yesterday Chief Minister Howard Quayle announced measures to be put in place to restrict the spread of Covid-19 and protect those most vulnerable within our community. Whilst these do not currently state that it is necessary to cancel any public gatherings and events, in the light of the announcements made and the escalating risk to members of the public we feel it is in the best interest of our community to cancel the 2020 event which would attract many people to a group public gathering.
Whilst this is devastating not only for us the organisers, but also for you our community we are still dedicated to providing supportive and inclusive provision on island for the LGBTQ+ community which has always been at the centre of our ethos. Currently we are in discussion regarding smaller highlight events, gatherings and campaigns later in the year when we hope the threat will have passed and we are able to ensure everyone is able to participate.
We would like to thank businesses, charities and the community who have shown amazing support to Isle of Pride 2020 and we hope that you will continue to support our initiative and smaller events throughout this year as well as Isle of Pride 2021.
